Freedom Writers

God has raised an army of men and women who He has chosen to write the story of battles fought for freedom.  A good portion of the Bible, especially the Old Testament, records incidents and situations that brought God’s people where He wanted them to be, to do what He wanted them to do.  The New Testament reflects battles that are more of a spiritual nature, and in essence, are more intense as they deal with the souls of men and eternal consequences.

There are the Psalms written mostly by David as He poured out his soul to God.  In them he asked for forgiveness for his transgressions; he also recorded events that had transpired, but most of all Dave sang praises to God.  The writings from Genesis to Revelation are all Holy Spirit-inspired.

Down through the ages, God has appointed men and women to write, under the influence of the Hoy Spirit, exactly what He wanted to tell His people.  He has a message to impart, and uses man to speak for Him, both verbally and through the written Word.  I believe I speak for all of us who have been given this powerful gift of writing. It is a tremendous responsibility to tell the world what God wants to say.  It is an honor and a privilege.

“And He gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers”  Ephesians 4:11 (KJV).

“Neglect not the gift that is in thee” 1 Timothy  4:11 (KJV).

“Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands” 2 Timothy  1:6 (KJV).

God gives gifts to all of us.  In I Cor. 12, it talks about the different gifts of the Holy Spirit and how diversified they are, and all are important for the building up of the Kingdom.   Whatever He has given you to do, do it with all your heart, for there is a battle raging for the souls of men.  We must use everything God has given us to win souls for the Kingdom. Jesus came to set the captive free, but Satan wants to keep them in bondage.

Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so  in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.  We have different gifts, according to the grace has given u s.  If a man’s gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith.  If it is serving, let him serve, if  it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage, if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently;  if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.
 Romans 12:4-8 (NIV).

These are God given gifts and are a weapon of sorts.  What we write, speak, or do, if we do it with the proper motive and under the influence of the Holy Spirit, it will promote truth, and Jesus said, “If you continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed: and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free”  John 8:32 (KJV).Our lives are living epistles, speaking truth to all who will hear.  The way we conduct ourselves in life’s situations is one way of preaching the Gospel to the unsaved.

We are all soldiers in God’s army.  We are in a spiritual battle to free men and women from the bondages placed upon them by Satan.  Let us be vigilant and not desert our post, for we are fighting for a worthy cause.
