Let it Go (Beautiful is Waiting)

My Friend Debbie

as the sun rose before me
I turned away from the glare...
and you were there
couldn't have found you
beautiful... just what is true
search it deep inside of you

a deeper place is calling
but there's that voice, stalling
saying I just can't let go
beautiful... still waiting
but you just can't let go

there's a long path you've walked along
the bitter sweet voyage that has brought you here
and deep within you everything you hold dear
but these are precious thoughts that stay
only on the inside as you pray
and wonder how much longer must it be this way

there's this search for a new beginning with the dawn
but each day rises and you turn to look, it's gone
and where will you be tomorrow?
beautiful... still waiting
but you just can't let go

this morning I saw your face
it was only a quick look
yet it seemed to be a story in a book
that I've read somewhere before
the heaviness that you bore
left you standing at the shore

but wait, that story was me
and I guess that's why I can see
this image inside of you
trying so hard to break through
because I have seen it too

beautiful is waiting
and it's time to let go
let it go, my friend
there is no promise for tomorrow
and beautiful... is still waiting
