Summer Hats: Simply Elegant

Light, casual and super-functional hats are the easiest way to give an outfit a little “attitude.” Pairing a boyish straw fedora with a girly dress gets you a great breezy/sharp mix.  The bucket hat (make sure it fits your head) lends an angelic, floaty top a dose of low-key whimsy.  Part Euro beach, part flower child, a floppy style conveys demure appeal.  Try one in a crushable style decorated with bright color grommets and studs.  Packable straws seem to be the news in hats.  For those who travel, these fabrics are a must.

With the Fourth of July just a few days away, what better way to celebrate than a red, white and blue scarf tied onto a traditional straw hat?

Hats off to Freedom

We Americans are celebrating the Fourth of July –Independence Day—this month.  It is the birthday of the Declaration of Independence.  As a nation, we celebrate our freedom as we strive to possess the integrity, the courage and the strength to keep us unshackled and remain a citadel of freedom and a beacon of hope to the world.  Consider that when you come to worship at your local church on Sunday, July 5, one could also describe it as a celebration of independence-- independence from sin and dependence on God and His Son resulting in eternal freedom. Let freedom ring in our hearts!
