Cooking with Kids Recipe: Red, White and Blue Salad

This is a great basic idea that you can add to and be creative with.  My kids love it and it is always a hit at church potlucks and summer picnics!  You can increase or decrease the portion sizes in a snap for your kids at home or for a large group.

Ingredients:

  • 1 container of strawberries, washed and cut into small, bite-sized pieces
  • 1 container of blueberries, washed
  • About 2 cups of mini marshmallows (add more or less based on your preference)

Directions:

  1. Mix it all together and you’ll have a red, white and blue treat!

Encourage your kids to make this with you.  Assist with cutting the strawberries and making sure they wash the fruit well, but otherwise, it’s a recipe that they can manage almost on their own.
