Joy Brathwaite

Originally from Barbados, Joy Braithwaite is the last of a large family with a strong Christian heritage.  Her God-fearing parents taught her and her siblings to be involved in ministry in and outside of the local church.  As a result, Joy has ministered through music and fine arts since she was 12 years old and served as the interim worship leader at her church for almost two years.  She also served with her husband mentoring inner city youth in New York City before starting a Sunday School class in Missouri that dealt with relationships.  She has been married for 18 years to a wonderful husband, who is a preacher and teacher and is completing his Ph.D. in Theology.  They have two children, ages 12 and 13, who love the Lord.

Professionally, Joy earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and management and a master’s degree in administration.  She has worked in finance and administration for over 20 years.  She currently works as the Administrative Dean at a Virginia university.

Joy has a passion for helping young adults, especially young women, develop a Godly perspective of themselves so they can truly live out their calling no matter the personal cost.  She believes that true fulfillment and happiness only come when you are walking in the calling that God has for you.

Joy desires to use the charismatic gifts of the Holy Spirit unashamedly under the loving control of the grace of God, as well as assist others as they practice their gifts for the benefit of the Kingdom.
