Pound Cake



    Everyone loves pound cake. This recipe is definitely a crowd pleaser. Make it for a party, small gathering or for any occasion.

 

Cake Ingredients:

  • 1 c Butter, Softened
  • 3 1/4 c Powdered Sugar, sifted
  • 6 Eggs
  • 3 c Cake Flour, sifted
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/3 c Milk
  • 1 tsp Vanilla

Cake Directions:

  1. Cream butter, gradually add sugar, beating at medium speed
  2. Add eggs one at a time, beating after each on.
  3. Combine flour and salt, add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture.
  4. Stir in vanilla.
  5. Pour into greased and floured tube pan Bake at 325 degrees for 55 minutes.
  6. Serve plain or with papaya topping.

 

Topping Ingredients:

  • 1/2 c Sugar
  • 1/2 c Water
  • 3 c Papaya, chopped
  • 2 T Lime juice

Topping Directions:

  1. Combine sugar and water in a heavy saucepan.
  2. Cook over medium heat for 15 minutes stirring until sugar dissolves and mixture thickens.
  3. Add papaya and lime juice; simmer for 20 minutes, stirring frequently, until mixture is reduced by half.
  4. Serve over pound cake.
