Collections in the World of Décor

My Friend Debbie      In the design world a collection is considered three or more but, but to a collector, it starts with just one. I remember when I found a particular soup tureen that I just loved and suddenly developed a certain affinity for white ceramic and ironstone tureens. I would point out my one to friends and admirers and introduce it as my new collection!

I have since acquired two others and have now officially met the standard of Interior Design!

A collection can be for different purposes. An entire room's theme can be built upon the pure form and color of a collection. Another purpose is for displaying the past generations' treasures you are now honored to possess. Both have these two things in common: they catch the eye of the beholder and they tell a story. To make the most of your own collection, remember these few tips: Similar items grouped together have the most impact. Rotate your collection: bring some out and put some away-- it shouldn't take over your room. Be selective, you don't have to buy every piece you find. Wait until you "love" it!

Enjoy the fun and originality of starting your own beautiful collection! And send us your pictures and your stories! We'd love to see them!
