Hands

My Friend Debbie

Ten little fingers, ten little toes
Sweet little smile, cute little nose
Big bright eyes, fuzzy little head
Great big yawns as I put him to bed.

In Your big hands you took mine so small
Then placed in mine another that's smallest of all.
You put this little one in my care
The wonders of his life for me to share.

First of all, I must tell him of You
Or his life may be lost to you know who.
This responsibility is greatest of all
For I don't want to be part of his fall.

Please help me to live in such a way
Through all I do and all I say
That he will see You in my giving and taking
So in love and discipline he will never feel forsaken.

May he grow in knowledge of Your saving grace
So that life's problems he'll be able to face.
One day You will give him a small hand to hold
And the truth of Jesus will again be told.
