Forgotten Cookies

These delicious cookies are a hit with all ages.  Just be sure to FORGET them, but DON’T forget to turn the oven off!

Ingredients:

  • 2 egg whites
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chopped pecans (optional)
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Cover cookie sheet with aluminum foil.
  3. Beat egg whites until foamy.
  4. Gradually add sugar and continue beating until stiff.
  5. Fold in chocolate chips (and pecans)
  6. Drop mixture by teaspoonfuls on ungreased foil.
  7. Place in oven.
  8. TURN OFF OVEN ! ! !
  9. Leave cookies in closed over overnight.
  10. The following morning, GENTLY peel cookies off foil.
  11. Store in airtight container.

Yield:  24 cookies

Note:  If the weather is humid, it tends to affect the results.  The cookies still taste great, but they tend to break apart more easily.
