Travel Arizona in the Winter

We left Virginia Beach, Virginia with temperatures in the 20s and traveled to Goodyear, Arizona, to visit our friends, Vern and Connie Clark. Goodyear is nestled between two mountain ridges, White Tank to the west and Estrella to the south and about 30 minutes from the Phoenix airport.

The daytime temperatures in Arizona were in the 70s.  It was the perfect time to leave the cold climate and head to warmer weather.

In the community where the Clarks live, you use your golf cart to go to your friend’s homes, to the golf course and the clubhouse.

We were excited to learn that on our first night in AZ, we were going to a cooking class with the Clarks and a few of their friends.

Kim Melander of Tastebuds Cooking Class Parties was the instructor and the evening was a pure delight--lots of fun--learning new recipes and how to prepare them-- meeting new and interesting people and eating the delicious food Kim had prepared.

Because of Arizona’s winter climate-- warm in the day-- chilly in the evening-- you layer your clothing and there is a lot of out-door living.

Dave and Vern spent most of their time playing golf on the beautiful and green desert golf courses.

Connie and I visited with her friends and I enjoyed looking at the way they decorated their homes and their desert landscaping. To me, it was truly eye candy.

We visited the quaint, quite town of Verrado and the golf course located there. It was beautifully scenic.

We had to visit the flea market. So many neat items you want to purchase-- but you have to remember, you have to get them home.  I did, however, buy a couple of treasures and managed to get them in my suitcase without being over the weight limit.

The stadium where the Arizona Cardinals play is near the Clark’s home and Connie and I managed to get caught in the middle of a lot of traffic, tailgating and activity when the Arizona Cardinals were in the playoffs with the Green Bay Packers.

The most enjoyable time we had in Arizona was just being with our dear friends, preparing spectacular meals together and meeting and being with their Arizona friends.

Friends are so important in our lives.  Every true friend can speak into our life in his or her own unique and individual way, if we will allow that to happen.  In every stage of our life we need a friend and we need to be a friend.

A Christian friend will speak God’s truth into your life. Some will be as lovely as a flower, come bearing fruit, and are good in the sunset times.
