Love Pursues

I told you how much I loved you,
But you spurned my Words.
I opened my arms to you,
And you turned away
For your eyes were on another.
My Word to you were love letters
Which you chose to set aside.
I called your name in the night hours,
But you did not answer
For your eyes were on another.
I spent a lifetime pursuing you,
Yet you never responded.
I wanted you to meet my Father,
But you would not come
For your eyes were on another.
Life is lived, your journey is over;
Eternity looms ahead.
I stretched forth my cross, my last gift of love,
I stretched forth my hand to claim you for my own,
And at last, your eyes were on me and no longer on another.
