Can You Hear?

If you could hear the whisper of a rose bud opening,

The laughter of the leaves as they dance in the wind,

The thunderous sound of an army of marching ants

One would be part of nature as God created it to be.

Can you hear the roar of silence?

The thunderous sound of isolation,

Or the sigh of a teardrop?

It is the sound of loneliness.

Have you heard the crash of a broken heart,

The collapse of a dream,

The smashing of hope?

It is the enemy

Do you hear a newborn’s eyelid flutter?

Can you hear the smile of its mother,

Or the pride of the father?

God can.
