The Crossroads of Life

Note to Reader: The writer tells of a vision she received from the Lord and how He brought her into a relationship with Him, and  then shares how He has been faithful and the promises that await her.

The Vision

I stood in a fallow field filled with rocks, thorns and thistles.  All around me were fields ripe for the harvest.  There before me was the crossroads of life.  One road was a wide highway that led to destruction, though I did not consider it so at the time.  I had traveled this road often for it offered a wide variety of pleasures that satisfied my senses.  However, over time I began to realize I needed to walk further and further to fulfill my needs, and even then they were never completely satisfied.  It seemed the further I walked the darker the road became.  Eventually, I found myself in utter darkness.  It was at this point I quickly retraced my steps and found myself at the crossroads once again.

As I stood in that fallow field, I began to feel a great upheaval.  There was a great moving and shaking.    Someone was plowing up the ground under my feet.  I looked, and the rocks had been removed.  A seed had been planted and I could feel it germinating within me.   Salty water seeped down into the soil of my heart and I knew it was someone’s tears.  I heard murmurings.   They were powerful and caused the soil to move aside so that the seed could push toward the surface. I came to realize the murmurings were  the prayers of the saints.

In due time, I burst forth from my confines, a tender seedling needing protection from the elements.  I heard a voice telling me not to worry, I would be well taken care of.  It was the voice of the Gardener.  He said he would never leave me or forsake me.  He was the vine and I was the branch and without Him, I could do nothing.

The Journey

I have found over the years that indeed the road has been bumpy at times, but in keeping with His promise, He has always been there for me.  He has never left my side for these past forty years, and I know that someday at journey’s end, we shall walk hand and hand together into the Kingdom and I shall be given a crown of life and the crown of glory.

The Promise

“Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him,”  James1:12 (NKJV).

“When the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away,” 1 Peter 5:4 (NKJV).
