A Home that is a Well Spring of Life

How does your family know that you care? What are the messages that you send to them by the things you care about?

When we care for the hearts of the people around us, we are watering the gardens of their souls. When we fail to recognize that people are thirsty for tender compassion and loving kindness, we leave there souls parched and wilting.

Do you care about every detail of their lives? Be honest.

     God does.

Psalm 37: 23-24 states, “The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand.”

Are your words watering their souls with living water from the well of life, or are your words like acid pouring toxins on their would-be blooming hearts?

Psalm 39:1 is a profound passage that reminds us to restrain our words with a muzzle. “I will guard my ways, lest I sin with my tongue. I will restrain my mouth with a muzzle, while the wicked are before me,”

Conversely, Proverbs 16:24 states, “Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the bones.”

What is the temperature in your home? Not the thermostat on the wall, but the one in your spirit? Do you have a hot temper? Do you display it? Are you worrisome? Do you let everyone know that you are worried?

Well, Psalm 37:8 says to “Cease from anger and forsake wrath; (and) Do not fret, it only causes harm.”

Instead, let your home be a place of worship and singing. Psalm 147:1 says, “For it is good to sing praises to our God; for it is pleasant, and praise is beautiful.”

So, make your goal to bring life to others, and as you do that, you yourself will be blessed as well.
