Corolla, NC with Girlfriends

Special memories are made when girlfriends get together for a "girlfriend's trip." I was invited to share in the memories that would be made.

The destination was Corolla, North Carolina. Corolla is located in the Poplar Branch township of Currituck County, North Carolina along the northern Outer Banks, the Atlantic Ocean on one side and the Currituck Sound on the other.  It has a permanent population of approximately 500 people, however, during the summer vacation season, the population surges into the thousands.

We were in the "off-season" when the rentals are extremely more affordable.

The weather can be very pleasant in the off season and because of less people it is more relaxed and unencumbered with traffic.

Our get-away house was the setting of a lot of reminiscing,  sharing our stories, laughing, putting puzzles together, and walking the beach. Wonderful to wake up in the morning to the sunrise over the Atlantic Ocean.

Corolla has several good restaurant to choose from, we were fortunate that five gals settled on the same choice of food.  We do highly recommend the Mexican restaurant, Mexikind Taqueria fresh ingredients and wonderful staff.

If you are up for an adventure, Corolla is home to the Currituck Beach Lighthouse, one of the seven North Carolina coastal lighthouses. The Lighthouse and the area where it is located is quaint and picturesque.

For extreme horse lovers, Corolla is home to about 119 feral Banker horses.  They are located on a 12,000 acre animal sanctuary.

My nightly routine, viewing the sunset from my balcony overlooking the Currituck Sound.

Blessed are they who have the gift of making friends, for it is one of God's greatest gifts. It involves many things, but above all the power of going out of  one's self and appreciating what is noble and loving in another.  - Thomas Hughes
