The Perfect Fudge

My Friend Debbie

Ingredients:

  • 1 7oz. jar of marshmallow cream
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2/3 cup evaporated milk
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 12 oz. package of semi-sweet morsels
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (if desired)

Preparation:

In medium sauce pan, combine marshmallow, sugar, evaporated milk, butter, and salt. At medium heat, bring to full boil, stirring constantly, approx. 5 minutes. While continuing to stir, remove from heat and add semi-sweet morsels. Stir until melted and smooth. Add vanilla and nuts (if desired). Pour into greased 8-inch square pan. Cool until firm.

Note: When I make this, I follow my friend, Lane's advice. She says that stirring with a wooden spoon is the secret to great fudge and never make fudge on a rainy day because it just won't set up right! This is great to share with friends and family during the holidays. With some thoughtful packaging, it even makes a great idea for gift-giving.
