I Have Security

The future is full of uncertainties, and don't you just want to know that everything is going to be okay? Let's take a minute to remind ourselves today that God's got this! He not only knows what the future holds, but He also "holds victory in store for the upright," Proverbs 2:7 (NIV).

In marriage, we often face major decisions that require our agreement with God and with our spouse. To take the job offer or not, to move to another location or stay. . . we all desire the confidence in knowing that we have chosen wisely. We want a guarantee that we won't harm our family by doing something foolish.

A friend shared that she recently faced a life-changing decision. Throughout the time of contemplating the pros and cons of a move to another part of the country, she sought the Lord in prayer until her husband finally rendered his decision to stay and not take the job in another state. "God had spoken through His elected head of your marriage," I reassured her.

Wives, you are greatly influential in boosting your husband’s confidence that he hears from God. Simply encourage him to trust that God is watching carefully over your family and is unwilling to fail your husband in his role of leadership. Also, the peace we abide in while we jointly navigate the future speaks loudly to our spouse. We demonstrate our trust that God is good and He does good things through our family’s headship.

As children of God, we have the confidence of security, "for He guards the course of the just and protects the way of His faithful ones," Proverbs 2:8, (NIV).

Prayer:

Father in heaven, I know that You are my source of security. Regardless of what the future may hold, You are already there and guiding us safely in Your goodness. Increase my ability to trust and rest in the assurance of Your presence with us every step of the way.
